How to pay the Clean Air Zone charge

If you drive into the Clean Air Zone using non-compliant vehicle you will need to pay the CAZ charge.

You can make a payment using the national Clean Air Zone website.

Please be aware that there are third party websites and apps that offer to manage CAZ payments on your behalf. These sites often charge a large fee and we would always recommend using the official payment channels to avoid any excess and unnecessary charges.

You can pay the Clean Air Zone charge up to six days in advance of entering the zone, on the day of travel or by 11:59pm on the sixth day after travelling in the zone.

You will not receive a reminder that you need to pay the CAZ charge after entering the zone, so it is important that you check to see whether your vehicle is compliant and whether you will need to pay.

You can check your vehicle and, if you need to pay, you can also make a Clean Air Zone charge payment using the national Clean Air Zone website.

Alternatively, payment can be made by telephone on 0300 029 8888. The lines are open Monday to Friday between 8am and 7pm and on Saturday from 8am until 2pm.

The level of the charge depends on the type of vehicle used in the zone.

For non-compliant buses, coaches & HGVs the charge is £50.00 per day.

For non-compliant taxis, vans, LGVs and minibuses the charge is £12.50 per day.
